Copp, Petan or Dano will not get us a decent D prospect! Maybe if they are included with Perrault, maybe! And I hope Chevy tries!! We do need more D. With Stanley missing most of this year after knee surgery it all but guarantees he will need at least 1-3 more years in junior and or the Moose. If we can somehow trade 1-2 of our young forwards for a good young D ready to play full time in the NHL next year plus sign Poolman when his season IDs done we will be a much better position next year.

The Jets will absolutely not be trading Perreault. He will also be protected. He is an extremely valuable asset for this team. Now that the broken finger has healed he is once again showing his value. If I were to place my bets on any one player being lost I would put my money on Andrew Copp. Roslovic or Connor can replace him quite easily. We will also lose a 2nd or 3rd round pick as Chevy will make a deal to protect Enstrom or Myers so we can go the 7-3 route. Its really not rocket science here.

Florida Panthers may take a run a Perrault?

Would love to put a package together for LHD Mike Matheson

We need to be bold and land a lefty on D.

Include a prospect and/or a 2nd Rd

We need a D man badly

Jets fans so overvalue Perrault!! He disappears on the bottom 6, Dano copp or petan could all take his place in a heartbeat . I'd live to get out of his four year deal. Vegas would be doing us a favour!!

Perreault is keeping a Top 6 spot warm for Kyle Connor. If we lose him, we lose him.

Dano is already eligible. Those 8 games remaining refer to the additional exposure conditions each team must abide by.

Copp, Petan and Dana are grade A prospects. I'm not suggesting them alone gets it done but they could be expendable if the opportunity arose. IF you think I'm saying Petan = 'this' you misunderstood the concept of what I was pointing out.

Really? I read it that the Jets already had enough exposed that he needed 8 more games before eligible.

I'm a jets fan and a homer but petan, copp and Dano are not A prospects. Very good prospects but not A. Isn't that why them alone can not get done? I agree we have depth with young forwards and they are expendable. Been saying that for a while.

Agree on Copp and Dano. Petan would end up being a top 6 on as many as 10 NHL teams in another two years. The Jets top six will be tough to crack though. There may be a lot more value for him in a trade to the right team than Copp and Dano becuase of his potential upside.

Now that Nashville and Calgary both won again tonight you can be pretty sure the Jets will be certain sellers on any UFA's. Stafford and Postma will most certainly be traded. Possibly Pavs as well. Outside chance they part with Matthias and maybe even Enstrom if he agrees to it. Andrew Copp is a definite possibility for a trade or he will be a Vegas B-Knight next year. .

Just flip Stafford for a 3rd, Postma for a 4th or 5th. Trade both those picks to Vegas not to take Myers and the promise to leave Copp unprotected and its all good. Jets stay relatively intact.

Season is over as far as playoffs are concerned.

You couldn't have paid that for Bishop Chevy!?

I'm not sure how Chevy could have gotten Bishop without trading a goalie back. That would have had to be Hutch. We need Hutch as he is the only goalie we can expose. Bishop is a UFA at season end so he wouldn't have worked as an expansion draft option. There was really not a good fit considering the expansion draft situation as well as the fact we have a very low chance of making the playoffs. Can't blame Chevy at all here.

This is no time to try and solve the goalie problem. Do it in the off season and do it right.

Agreed. Brodeur or Roy in their prime could not suddenly salvage this season for the Jets.
We can lose any one of Perreault, Copp, or Dano and life will go on. Lots of wingers in the prospect pool. I think we are in great shape for the Vegas Draft.

and why exactly would Vegas agree to that! Myers even with a health risk would be worth the chance

It not what Myers is worth that matters. It is what Armia or Perreault is worth because Vegas will end up with one of them if they didn't take the deal.

Exactly, so why take the deal? If someone called chevy and offered a 3rd and 4th for either Myers, armia or Perrault would you take it? Probably not. My point is the deal makes zero sense for Vegas, they will wait and see what the jets do and take the best player not the picks

Because a free 3rd and 4th pick and still getting an Andrew Copp is not a bad deal. Otherwise the Jets would just trade Armia and Perreault for something much more meaningful. The Habs would love to have Matthew Perrault and any team in the league would want Armia. Vegas will never get their hands on either of those players, so why not take the free picks .

Remember how the Quebec Nordiques kept Real Cloutier when coming into the NHL by giving Chicago a free draft pick if for promising not to take him. You'll see a lot of that type of deal again this year. Maybe it won't be a third and fourth but a second. I doubt it gets much better than that for Vegas though.

I have no problem with losing one of Dano, Copp, Perreault or Matthias. I would like to see us keep Armia.

Dano and Petan are already top 9 forwards. I wouldn't even consider them prospects, so much as "ceiling not found" players. I protect the follwing:
F:Scheifele, Wheeler, Little, Perreault, Dano, Armia, and Copp
D: Byfuglien, Enstrom, and Trouba
G: Hellebuyck
Trade Vegas a pick or two in exchange for them taking Lowry instead of Myers. McPhee won't be able to resist Lowry, and Maurice won't stop overplaying him unless his favourite toy is taken away. We'll be a better team for it.
